Getting Artistic:Making Props.

Making Props: What I Needed was Duck Tape, plastic garbage bag, green painters tape, newspaper, small bucket of wallpaper glue/painters brush, and a lamp with no shade. Also some finishing textured paint.

Since I needed to make a display object to hang my longer necklaces for display, it was time to make one. None of the store bought display necks would do. All of them were too short, and too expensive.
So one day, I started searching U-tube about how to make a papermache body double (top only).
I got some ideas. So my girldfriend and I had a lovely day off just duck taping each other (over our plastic bag forms). After a good few layers of duck tape we had to cut the thing off (right down the back). Being careful not to either tape the ribs too tight or cut your back in the cutting stage. Definitely a strange process, as you are unable to touch your toes, move your arms or just breath easy.
When it was time to cut up the back open, it was a relief. It was now time to start the process of stuffing it. I managed to get an old heavy weighted lamp, removed the lampshade, and place it inside the double with the nob out the top. The base fit perfectly with my hips. That was just luck. Stuffing around the sides of the lamp, and securing it in place. Closing off the arms and the top of the neck with tape to make it easier to stuff.

 Making it easier to add the finishing basic touches to the item and carry it around by the top nob.

After getting a layer of green painters tape all over, it was time to add the papermache layers. Changing a few of the shapes to add character to them (duck tape is not accurate). I then layered the papermache with some spray paint (stone effects) over the entire thing. Now it is ready to dress and hang necklaces on it with my show coming up November 6th. I can display some of my favorite pieces. It also sits really solidly on a table.
